I love broccoli and this crispy variety is so satisfying! It is great paired with the sauce and Israeli Couscous and is also perfect as an entire meal when you add simple sliced tomatoes or a side salad.

Because of the frying, this dish is more satisfying. A note, make sure your oil is hot before adding the broccoli so it doesn’t absorb too much grease and also completely dry so the grease does not splash.

 

Spicy-Sweet Chili Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • 6 tablespoons low sodium tamari
  • 3 tablespoons agave nectar
  • 1 teaspoon Sambel Oleek
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Directions

  1. Brown garlic in a small saucepan.
  2. Add tamari, agave, and Sambal Oleek and mix until combined.
  3. Over medium heat, whisk in the cornstarch in small increments until cornstarch is fully combined.

Seasame Broccoli Saute

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 heads broccoli
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Heat oil of choice in deep sided pan.
  2. Cook broccoli flowerettes over medium high heat until chewable.
  3. Transfer broccoli to paper towels and pat out any excess oil.
  4. Toss broccoli with Sweet Chili Sauce.
  5. Top with sesame seeds.

Israeli Couscous

Ingredients

  • 1 cup israeli couscous
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Bring water to a boil, then reduce to medium heat.
  2. Stir in couscous and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, fluff with fork, and let cool for 2 minutes.
